Third time’s the charm in $1M Ohio Lottery win

LaGrange woman hits $1 million jackpot on third try with holiday scratch-off

LaGrange, OH — A quick stop for a Mega Millions ticket turned into a life-changing win for a LaGrange woman who picked up a $1,000,000 Holiday Wish scratch-off on impulse — her third time playing the ticket.

She purchased the $20 ticket at Mickey Mart #60, located at 102 South Center Street, and previously played the same game twice without a win. On her third try, she hit the top prize — an annuitized award of $40,000 a year for 25 years, totaling $1 million.

The winner elected to take the lump sum payout of $500,000 and received $364,375 after taxes were withheld at the rate of 27.125 percent. She told lottery officials she plans to use the money to pay off her house and eliminate outstanding debt.

The $1,000,000 Holiday Wish game has overall odds of 1 in 3.46. As of Wednesday, four top prizes of $1 million remain unclaimed.

The Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $34 billion to education since 1974. For information about current games and second-chance promotions, visit ohiolottery.com.
