Carjackers in masks flee with Mercedes in Southeast DC armed heist
Washington, DC — A pair of masked suspects armed with a handgun stole a Mercedes-Benz at gunpoint in Southeast DC early Friday morning, prompting a citywide alert as police search for the vehicle and suspects.
The armed carjacking happened around 1 a.m. near the intersection of 31st Street and Call Place SE, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. Investigators say two Black males dressed in all black and wearing masks approached the vehicle and threatened the victim with a handgun before taking off in a gray 2019 Mercedes-Benz C300 with District of Columbia license plates.
No injuries were reported in connection to the carjacking. The suspects fled the scene in the stolen vehicle and remain at large.
The case has been designated a Crime Alert in the 7th District covering Police Service Areas 701 through 708. Officers are continuing the investigation and ask that anyone with information contact the department immediately. Citizens are urged not to approach the suspects or the vehicle.
