Employee arrested after manager stabbed at Edgewater restaurant

EDGEWATER, MD – A workplace confrontation at a Mitchells Chance Road restaurant turned violent Saturday afternoon when an employee allegedly stabbed his manager before fleeing, prompting a swift police response that ended with an arrest outside the business.

Officers arrived at Bubbakoo’s Burritos around 1:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a stabbing. According to investigators, a 29-year-old employee attacked his 43-year-old manager with a knife during an altercation inside the restaurant. The manager was found with significant injuries as officers provided aid until fire department personnel transported him to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.

Police located the suspect, identified as Marquette Ball of Annapolis, outside the business shortly after the assault. He was taken into custody without incident. A motive for the confrontation has not been released, and detectives from the Southern District are continuing their investigation.
