Pennsylvania Avenue shooting leaves 23 year old man dead in Southeast DC
WASHINGTON, DC – A quiet early Sunday morning in Southeast Washington ended in deadly gunfire when a young man was shot along Pennsylvania Avenue and later died at a hospital.
Sixth District officers were called to the 2300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue Southeast shortly after 6 a.m. Sunday following reports of a shooting. Responding officers found an adult male unconscious and not breathing with a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, but lifesaving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.
Police identified the victim as 23-year-old Dennis Ziegler of Northeast DC. Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and have not released information about suspects or a possible motive.
Investigators are urging anyone with information to contact police as the case remains active.
