Shots fired in road rage clash as driver flees gunfire in Woodbridge
WOODBRIDGE, VA – A 29-year-old driver was forced to flee for his life Thursday night after a road rage encounter turned violent when occupants of a dark pickup truck opened fire, striking his vehicle twice, police said.
The incident unfolded shortly before 9:30 p.m. near Clipper Drive and Mariner Lane, where the driver told officers he encountered a dark-colored extended cab pickup — possibly a Chevrolet — that suddenly stopped in front of him. As he attempted to get away, gunshots rang out, prompting him to flee the area and contact authorities.
Police responded to the scene and found shell casings scattered on the roadway. The victim’s vehicle had been hit twice by gunfire. Fortunately, no one was injured, and no additional property damage was reported.
Investigators say the suspect vehicle was believed to be occupied by five men at the time of the shooting. No arrests have been made, and police are working to identify those involved.
