Wallaby on the run in New Jersey as police continue search for missing marsupial
Monroe Township, NJ – A wallaby named Rex is still on the loose in Gloucester County, and despite the efforts of local police and farm staff, the speedy marsupial has managed to stay one hop ahead of capture.
Monroe Township Police confirmed Tuesday that Rex, who escaped from Lots of Love Farm, has not yet been recovered. While officers successfully wrangled a runaway horse last week in a separate incident, Rex has proven to be a more elusive challenge.
“Rex is quick,” police said in a social media update, noting that while several officers were out overnight, attempts to locate him were unsuccessful. Bad weather also hindered efforts to deploy a drone to aid in the search.
A BOLO (Be On the Lookout) with a full description of Rex has been circulated among officers, and police are asking residents to avoid attempting to catch him themselves.
Anyone who spots Rex should immediately call Lots of Love Farm at 856-728-4188.
