Road Rage Crash Leads to Brawl in Downtown Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, NJ – Police are investigating a violent road rage incident that occurred Sunday afternoon after a minor vehicle collision at a downtown Lakewood intersection.

Officers were called around 1:20 p.m. to the area of First Street and Clifton Avenue for reports of an active fight. When Officer Townsend arrived, he found the victim seated in his vehicle with visible injuries. The driver told police he had stopped to let pedestrians cross when another vehicle struck his car from behind.

According to the victim, he got out to speak with the other driver when the suspect suddenly became aggressive, grabbing him, throwing him to the ground, and dragging him along the roadway. The victim suffered injuries to his ribs, neck, knees, and face.

Police said the suspect then fled the scene northbound on Clifton Avenue before officers arrived. Emergency Medical Services responded and treated the victim at the scene.
