Three busted in Cumberland drug sweep after K9 alerts on Greene Street

Cumberland, MD – A routine traffic stop on Greene Street turned into a trio of drug arrests Sunday after a police K9 detected narcotics, leading to the discovery of controlled substances and paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

Cumberland Police were conducting routine patrols on Sunday, January 4, when they pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation. During the stop, a K9 unit was deployed for a free air scan around the vehicle, which resulted in a positive alert for drugs.

Officers searched the vehicle and uncovered a quantity of controlled dangerous substances and drug paraphernalia. Three individuals were taken into custody as a result.

Arlie Gene Lease Jr., 55, of Cumberland, was arrested and later released on criminal and traffic citations. Amber Elizabeth Carrington, 30, of Lavale, was also arrested and released on a criminal citation.

Michael Jentry Lee, 33, of Rockville, was taken into custody and transported to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is charged with drug possession, possession of paraphernalia, providing false identity to avoid prosecution, and obstructing and hindering. Lee is being held pending his appearance before a District Court Commissioner.

All three face charges of CDS Possession not Marijuana, as police continue their efforts to curb drug activity in the region.
