Triple murder suspects held without bail in Maryland slayings

Two more arrested in connection to Washington County triple murder and house fire

Clear Spring, MD — Maryland State Police have announced two additional arrests in the ongoing investigation into a triple homicide and arson that shocked a Clear Spring neighborhood in November.

Lanea George, 40, of Owings Mills, and David Chapple, 43, of Baltimore, have been charged as accessories after the fact to first-degree murder. George also faces an obstruction of justice charge. Investigators say both played roles in the aftermath of the fatal shooting of three people inside a Washington County home that was later set on fire.

George is currently being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center and will be transferred to Washington County. Chapple, who was indicted by a grand jury, is being held without bond at the Washington County Detention Center pending his initial court appearance.

The case began shortly after 5:00 a.m. on November 18, 2025, when the Office of the State Fire Marshal responded to a burning single-family home in the 13,000 block of National Pike in Clear Spring. First responders found three deceased individuals inside. Though the fire initially appeared to be the cause of death, further investigation revealed trauma inconsistent with fire-related injuries. K-9 units also alerted to accelerants, indicating possible arson.

The victims were later identified as Brittany Ray, 31, Harold Flichman, 36, and Brianna Mae Weishaar, 25 — all of Clear Spring. Autopsies confirmed all three died from gunshot wounds.

The investigation is being led by the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit, working alongside the Office of the State Fire Marshal, FBI Baltimore, Hagerstown Police, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and other agencies. Authorities have indicated that more arrests are expected.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Maryland State Police Hagerstown Barrack at 301-766-3800. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
