According to the NYPD, the attack occurred around 11:40 a.m. as the train approached the Jamaica Avenue station within the 102nd Precinct. Authorities said an unidentified individual pulled out a knife and slashed the teen on the left hand before fleeing the scene on foot.

The victim was treated for a non-life-threatening injury and is expected to recover. Police have not yet released a detailed description of the suspect but are reviewing subway surveillance footage and canvassing the surrounding area for witnesses.
