Harlem church vandalized with anti-religious graffiti - suspect sought

New York, NY – Police are searching for an unidentified individual accused of drawing anti-religious graffiti on the front door of a Harlem church in what investigators are classifying as a hate crime.

The incident occurred Wednesday at approximately 12:50 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 360 Lenox Avenue, according to the NYPD.

Authorities said the suspect defaced the church’s front entrance with anti-religious graffiti before fleeing southbound on Lenox Avenue. No arrests have been made, and the individual’s identity has not been released.

The investigation is being handled as a reported hate crime. Police did not immediately provide further details about the nature of the markings or whether there were any prior incidents at the location.
