Traffic stop K9 alert leads to drug charges for Cumberland woman
CUMBERLAND, MD — A December traffic stop involving a K-9 unit has resulted in drug charges for a 40-year-old Cumberland woman, police said.
On Feb. 11, the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Samantha Jo Baker following an investigation stemming from a Dec. 9 traffic stop where she was identified as the driver of the vehicle.
During the stop, a K-9 unit conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle. Police said the K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics, prompting officers to conduct a search.
Authorities reported that a quantity of controlled dangerous substances and paraphernalia were located on Baker’s person.
Baker signed for her copy of the summons and was released pending trial in Allegany County District Court.
She is charged with two counts of CDS possession not marijuana and one count of CDS possession of paraphernalia.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
