A broad daylight shooting in Brooklyn has left an infant dead, prompting a citywide search for two suspects who fled the scene on a moped.
Brooklyn, NY – Police are searching for two unidentified individuals wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that killed a 7-month-old girl Wednesday afternoon in Williamsburg. The shooting unfolded at a busy intersection, sending shock through the neighborhood and triggering an urgent investigation.
According to the NYPD, the incident occurred at approximately 1:21 p.m. near the intersection of Moore Street and Humboldt Street. Authorities said the suspects were riding a moped when the rear passenger displayed a firearm and fired multiple shots, striking the infant.
The child was pronounced dead following the shooting. Police have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the attack or whether the infant was the intended target.
Suspects fled scene on moped after shooting
The NYPD issued a public alert seeking help in identifying and locating the two individuals involved. The suspects fled the scene immediately after the shooting and remain at large.
“On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at approximately 1:21 P.M., two unidentified individuals on a moped approached the intersection of Moore Street and Humboldt Street,” the NYPD said. “The individual at the rear of the moped displayed a firearm and discharged the firearm multiple times, striking a 7-month-old female.”
