Riverdale woman in disbelief keeps asking if $2M lottery win is real

Riverdale woman stunned after $2 million scratch off win changes her life

Riverdale, MD — A routine lottery purchase turned into a $2 million windfall for a Prince George’s County woman who questioned whether the prize was real even as she stepped forward to claim it.

The Riverdale resident won a top prize playing the $30 200X the Cash scratch-off game, according to the Maryland Lottery. She claimed the prize alongside her husband on Friday at lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

In the days following the win, the woman remained uncertain about the outcome. Her husband said she repeatedly asked if the ticket was real before becoming convinced at the time of claiming.

The winning ticket was purchased at Riggs Grocery, located at 5405 Kenilworth Avenue in Riverdale. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus for selling the top-prize ticket.

The winner said she plans to use the money to pay off her mortgage, invest funds, and travel overseas to visit family.

The 200X the Cash scratch-off launched in December with five $2 million top prizes available. Lottery officials said three of those top prizes remain unclaimed.

The game is part of a broader series of scratch-off tickets priced between $1 and $30. Non-winning tickets from the X the Cash series can be entered into a second-chance promotion offering prizes up to $75,000.
