Armed suspect walks into store grabs cash and escapes

Gunman hits Columbus business in daylight robbery before fleeing in getaway car

Columbus, OH — A suspect walked into a north Columbus business in broad daylight Monday morning, pulled a handgun, and walked out with cash before fleeing the scene in a vehicle, police said.

The robbery occurred at approximately 9:24 a.m. in the 8300 block of Sancus Boulevard, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

Investigators said the suspect entered the business, brandished a firearm, and demanded money from an employee. The employee complied, handing over an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect then fled the area in what police described as possibly an older model Ford Taurus.

Authorities described the suspect as a heavyset white male believed to be in his 50s. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Detectives are continuing to investigate and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
