Cumberland woman, 78, charged after Fort Avenue assault investigation

Police say a criminal summons was issued following an investigation into an assault reported on Fort Avenue.

CUMBERLAND, Md. — A Cumberland woman is facing an assault charge after a police investigation into an incident that occurred earlier this month.

According to the Cumberland Police Department, officers served a criminal summons on Carolyn Virginia Wilson, 78, on Tuesday, June 9.

The summons stemmed from an investigation into an assault reported on June 2 in the Fort Avenue area of Cumberland. After completing the investigation, an officer applied for charges through District Court.

Wilson signed for the summons and was released pending trial.

She is charged with second-degree assault.
