A man is facing felony charges after police say tires on 10 vehicles were intentionally slashed over three days in Northwest DC.

WASHINGTON, DC — A tire-slashing spree that damaged 10 vehicles across Northwest DC has ended with the arrest of a 37-year-old man, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Police said the incidents occurred between Monday, July 6, and Wednesday, July 8, in the Second District. Investigators allege the suspect intentionally damaged multiple tires on 10 vehicles at several locations.

The reported incidents occurred in:

  • The 1000 block of Wisconsin Avenue, Northwest, on Monday, July 6.
  • The 3200 block of Cherry Hill Lane, Northwest, on Monday, July 6.
  • The 3300 block of Cady’s Alley, Northwest, on Monday, July 6.
  • The 1700 block of 35th Street, Northwest, on Tuesday, July 7.
  • The 1000 block of Wisconsin Avenue, Northwest, on Wednesday, July 8.

According to MPD, on Thursday, July 9, National Guard service members who were familiar with the reported offenses spotted the suspect and immediately alerted Second District officers.

Police arrested 37-year-old Marcel Mathew Brannum, who has no fixed address.

Following the investigation, Brannum was charged with five counts of felony destruction of property.

The Metropolitan Police Department credited members of the National Guard with helping locate the suspect.
