A 22-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police linked him to three separate robbery and theft cases in Northwest DC.
WASHINGTON, DC — A man accused of forcing a victim into a vehicle, beating and robbing the victim before throwing them back onto a Northwest DC street has been arrested in connection with a series of robbery and theft investigations, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Police said 22-year-old Alex Girma, of Northwest DC, was arrested on Friday, July 10, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant.
The most serious incident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 8, in the 1200 block of 18th Street, Northwest.
According to investigators, a vehicle pulled alongside the victim and one of the suspects forced the victim inside. Police said the victim was assaulted, robbed of personal property, and then pushed from the vehicle before the suspects fled.
Girma was charged with robbery in that case.
Police also charged Girma in connection with a robbery reported at approximately 3:20 a.m. on Friday, February 13, in the 1200 block of 22nd Street, Northwest. Investigators said suspects approached the victim from behind, grabbed the victim’s property, and pushed the victim when an attempt was made to recover it before fleeing.
In a third incident, reported at approximately 3:52 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, in the 1200 block of 18th Street, Northwest, police said suspects asked to borrow a victim’s cellphone and then ran away with it.
The Metropolitan Police Department said the investigations remain active.
