Norfolk winner plans to pay off home and erase debt

NORFOLK, VA — A routine Lottery purchase turned into a $255,000 payday for a Norfolk truck driver after one of two Cash 5 with EZ Match tickets he bought matched all five winning numbers.

Kim White claimed the $255,000 jackpot after purchasing the winning ticket for the July 12 drawing at Subtrack Food Mart, located at 5369 E. Princess Anne Road in Norfolk.

White said he and his fiancée checked the winning numbers together after the drawing and quickly realized they were holding the jackpot-winning ticket.

“I’m still in shock,” White told Virginia Lottery officials. “We couldn’t sleep last night. We tossed and turned and everything.”

The winning numbers for the July 12 Cash 5 with EZ Match drawing were 1, 12, 26, 39 and 43.

White used Easy Pick, allowing the computer to randomly generate his numbers.

He told Lottery officials he plans to use the prize money to pay off his home, become debt-free and help celebrate his mother’s upcoming birthday.

“It’s really a blessing,” he said.

Cash 5 with EZ Match features a rolling jackpot that starts at $200,000. The odds of matching all five numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 1,221,759.
