Home Run Riches FAST PLAY ticket sold in Parkton delivers progressive prize
BALTIMORE, MD — An Essex man who spends much of his free time cheering on the Orioles and Ravens has scored a win of his own after a $5 Maryland Lottery FAST PLAY ticket turned into a $182,263 progressive jackpot.
The lifelong Orioles and Ravens fan claimed the $182,263 Home Run Riches Walk-Off Winnings jackpot on Wednesday at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
The winner said he regularly buys Maryland Lottery games connected to his favorite teams because of their second-chance promotions, including opportunities to win Ravens season tickets or become a Home Run Riches Contestant of the Game.
Despite never being selected in those drawings, he did not need a second chance when he purchased the winning ticket on July 2.
“I probably spend more time at the stadiums than I do at home,” the winner told lottery officials.
In addition to holding Orioles season tickets, he works part-time at concession stands at both Oriole Park at Camden Yards and M&T Bank Stadium while maintaining a full-time job.
The Essex resident said much of his winnings will go toward home improvements, repairs and paying off credit card debt.
The winning $5 Home Run Riches FAST PLAY ticket was purchased at the High’s convenience store located at 19200 Middletown Road in Parkton.
As the selling retailer, the store will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
