Boston police name 18-year-old victim while detectives seek answers

BOSTON, Mass. — An 18-year-old Boston woman found shot to death inside a Mattapan home has been identified after the medical examiner ruled her death a homicide.

The victim was identified as Yoseliani Ann Marte Ocasio.

Boston police said officers responded to a report of a person shot near 25 Malta Road at about 1:52 p.m. on Saturday, July 18.

Officers entered the residence and found Marte Ocasio suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide on Thursday.

Boston Police Department Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Police have not released information about a suspect or possible motive.
