SUITLAND, MD. – An 81-year-old woman died after her vehicle crashed into the front porch of a Suitland home Friday afternoon, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.
Police identified the driver as Devereaux Shelton of District Heights. Officers were called to the area of Brooks Drive and Towne Park Road at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 28 for a reported single-vehicle crash.
Shelton was taken to a hospital, where she died a short time later, police said. No one was inside the home when the vehicle struck the porch, and investigators have not yet determined what caused the crash.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is leading the investigation. Police have not released information indicating what may have caused Shelton to leave the roadway and strike the property.

Police are now looking for witnesses and video that could help reconstruct Shelton’s movements before the collision.

Investigators are specifically asking people who may have been in the Brooks Drive and Towne Park Road area Friday afternoon to check dash cameras and home surveillance systems for potentially useful footage.
