TOMS RIVER, NJ — Toms River will close out its free summer concert series Thursday night at Shelter Cove Beach, wrapping up a season of waterfront entertainment that drew crowds to East Dover throughout the summer.
Toms River Mayor Dan Rodrick today invites the entire community to come out and celebrate the final days of summer in Toms River and see what they have been missing all year long.
The beach party kicks off tonight.
The Jukebox Legends will take the stage at 7 p.m. for the final concert of the season. The township is encouraging attendees to bring chairs or blankets and snacks. Food trucks will also be available at the event.
Free shuttle service will run from Toms River High School East, providing another option for residents heading to Shelter Cove Beach. The waterfront venue has drawn spectators both on land and aboard boats in the cove during the summer series.
This year’s concerts were presented by Mayor Daniel T. Rodrick and the Toms River Recreation Department as the township marked the summer leading into America’s 250th anniversary celebrations. The series featured live entertainment and fireworks and brought visitors into the East Dover section of the township.

Local business owners have credited the events with creating a new summer attraction for Toms River and generating additional activity for nearby restaurants and other businesses. The series was backed by Rodrick and council members Lynn O’Toole, Craig Coleman and Harry Abers.
The concerts that almost never happened
Prior to the start of the concert series, Toms River Council President David Ciccozzi moved to block the events, saying, “We’re not in the entertainment business.”
Ciccozzi was joined by Silverton Farms owner Tom Nivison, retired U.S. Army Captain CLINT Bradley, and Robert Bianchini, a former Democrat turned Mo-Hill-Club Republican who previously ran a failed campaign for mayor of Toms River in 2023. Bianchini is a public worker for the city of Asbury Park.
The final concert begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at Shelter Cove Beach. Attendees using the free shuttle should park at Toms River High School East.
