HOLMDEL, N.J. – Five firefighters were hospitalized Friday after a residential fire fully engulfed a home on Armand Court in Holmdel, according to township police.
The Holmdel Township Police Department said 911 calls reporting the fire began coming in at approximately 3:54 p.m. Emergency personnel quickly determined that everyone who had been inside the home had safely escaped.
- Five firefighters were transported to local hospitals for evaluation after suffering minor injuries and heat exhaustion.
- Everyone living in the Armand Court home safely evacuated before emergency crews arrived.
- The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation by county and township fire officials.
Firefighters From Several Monmouth County Departments Respond
When emergency crews arrived, police said the house was “fully engulfed in flames,” prompting a response from the Holmdel Fire Department and several surrounding departments.
Firefighters from Morganville, Hazlet, Matawan, Union Beach and Belford assisted Holmdel crews as they worked at the burning home.
Holmdel First Aid also responded and provided medical treatment to firefighters at the scene.
“Holmdel First Aid also assisted at the scene, providing medical treatment to several firefighters who sustained minor injuries and experienced heat exhaustion,” police said.
Five firefighters were ultimately transported to local hospitals for further evaluation. Police did not identify the injured firefighters or provide additional information about their conditions.
No injuries to residents were reported in the department’s initial account.
Cause of Holmdel House Fire Under Investigation
The cause of the house fire had not been determined when police released their initial update.
“The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation by the Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Holmdel Township Fire Official,” police said.
Authorities did not release information about where inside the home the fire may have started or what investigators believe could have caused it.
The fire brought together emergency personnel from multiple communities across Monmouth County as crews worked in conditions that resulted in several firefighters requiring medical attention.
Police have not announced when investigators expect to complete their examination of the property. Additional information could be released as the fire investigation continues.
