NEWARK, NJ – On February 20, 2022, at approximately 10:02 P.M., the Newark Police Department responded to the area of Marrows Court Apartments for a report of shots fired. The responding officers contacted a male victim who said he had been shot at by unknown individuals. The victim stated he was walking on Witherspoon Lane when the suspects began shooting in his direction. The victim fled the area and was not injured. The suspects also fled the scene prior to the arrival of responding officers. The Newark Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit and Evidence Detection Unit responded to the scene to assume the investigation.
Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots. Evidence was found at the scene indicating multiple shots had been fired. There was no damage observed to any property in the area and no injuries were reported. There currently is no description of the suspects. This investigation is ongoing.
