by Jessica Woods

FREEHOLD, NJ – The Perkins restaurant on Route 9 in Freehold has closed its doors, but another breakfast restaurant will be taking its place.

The owners announced their closure last week.

“After 30 years of serving our community, we have officially closed our doors. We want to thank our entire staff & patrons for supporting us throughout the years,” said Franchisee Ted Petrou. ” A huge thank you to our staff throughout the years for always working so hard to keep our Perkins franchise location the committed and consistent establishment it was up until today. We are sad to know that we will not see all of these familiar faces each & every day but we hope to see you all at our other family establishment, the Marlboro Diner, located at 143 us Highway 9 in Marlboro! Wishing the Petrou family a Happy Retirement.”

In its place will be the Brownstone Pancake Factory which currently operates restaurants in Brick, Edgewater, and Englewood Cliffs. Bobby Bournias says he is hoping to open his fourth restaurant at the location this fall.
