Wilmington Teen Charged in Newark Shooting

NEWARK, DE – On Wednesday, Delaware State Police arrested 19-year-old Shawn Roy of Wilmington for an armed robbery and reckless endangerment that transpired in Newark on Monday, July 18.

Troopers responded to a call at Royal Farms on Old Baltimore Pike, where they found evidence of a discharged firearm, but no victim.

Further investigation uncovered that Roy had fired a shot at a 33-year-old acquaintance during a parking lot altercation.

Roy fled the scene on foot, and the victim left in his vehicle, uninjured. Troop 2 Robbery Detectives arrested Roy at a residence in Bear without any complications.

He is charged with robbery first degree (felony), possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony (felony), and two counts of reckless endangering first degree (felony). Roy is currently detained at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $54,000 cash bond.
