TRENTON, NJ – Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco has stated that Governor Murphy and Trenton Democrats are leading New Jersey in the wrong direction, as indicated by a recent poll showing New Jersey residents increasingly dissatisfied with their quality of life.
The Monmouth University poll released yesterday showed that the percentage of people who felt safe in their neighborhoods has fallen below 60% for the first time since September 2014. Similarly, those who believe their local schools are performing well dipped below 60% for the first time since February 2019.
Senator Bucco pointed to these declining metrics as evidence that the policies of the current administration are failing the people of New Jersey. “The extreme far-left policies are clearly impacting quality-of-life issues,” said Bucco. “This administration’s soft stance on crime has resulted in an increase in car thefts, smash and grabs, and burglaries.”
” More than 6 in 10 New Jerseyans continue to give positive ratings to their home state as a place to live, but views of some local aspects of the state’s quality of life have declined, particularly around schools and safety. The Monmouth (“Mon-muth”) University Poll’s benchmark index rating has remained stable due to offsetting partisan shifts in opinion, with Republicans feeling more negative than at the beginning of the year and Democrats feeling more positive,” MU Polling said in a press release.
Bucco also cited other areas of concern, including school funding cuts, rising utility rates, and the push for electric vehicle mandates as contributing to the soaring cost of living in the state. “It’s abundantly clear that Democrats are not prioritizing the needs or safety of New Jersey residents,” he concluded.
“As with everything in society today, how people view what’s going on in their own backyards seems to be filtered through a partisan lens,” said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute.
