Phil Murphy Under Fire For Using Taxpayer Funds for Personal Gain, Again

November 19, 2023

TRENTON, NJ – Not happy with making New Jersey residents pay for his own bills for a Taylor Swift concert, NFL football games, and soccer matches, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy is once again using taxpayer funds for a questionable activity.

Days after his wife Tammy announced her run for U.S. Senate, Murphy launched a series of ads featuring his wife, paid for by the state of New Jersey.

Mendham Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner is now calling for a state ethics investigation into a $100,000 radio station advertising campaign featuring his wife Tammy for Nurture NJ, a statewide taxpayer-funded initiative by the Murphy administration.

“There is no legitimate reason for Nurture NJ to continue using the governor’s wife as a spokesperson now that she’s officially declared herself as a candidate,” Glassner said in a statement. “Surely, our multi-millionaire governor and his wife can afford to finance their campaign ads rather than using our tax dollars to boost her public profile.”

Tammy Murphy is a candidate for U.S. Senate, challenging Robert Menendez, who has been indicted on political corruption and bribery charges.

“It’s clear that the “Murphy Monarchy” intends to use public resources and the governor’s political power to boost Mrs. Murphy’s candidacy. Will she also use her lavish office in the state capitol for campaign work? Will she use state vehicles for campaign travel?” she asked.
