Buffalo Police Department Announces Arrest in Kidnapping and Assault Case

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo Police Department’s Special Victims Unit, Intelligence Unit, and Ferry-Fillmore district detectives have made a breakthrough in a recent case of kidnapping and assault.

On Saturday, a suspect linked to the crimes involving two women was apprehended by the police.

The investigation commenced on Monday, January 1st, when a woman managed to escape from a house where she had been held captive for two days.

She suffered injuries to her face, shoulder, and back after jumping from a second-story window. The Buffalo Police SWAT team, upon narrowing down the location based on details provided by the victims, executed a search warrant on the 200 block of Moselle Street.

Jamar Harris, 36, of Buffalo, faces multiple charges, including first and second-degree assault, rape, criminal sexual act, strangulation, criminal possession of a weapon, and menacing. The police are considering additional charges as they continue to investigate, particularly related to weapons found at the suspect’s residence. The victims, both aged 33, received treatment at ECMC and were subsequently released.
