BALTIMORE, MD — The Baltimore Police Department has reported the arrest of a 34-year-old male for auto theft following a successful operation using License Plate Reader (LPR) technology.

On January 10, 2024, at around 11:02 PM, Southern District officers, while patrolling near Washington Boulevard and Bush Street, received an LPR alert about a stolen vehicle in the vicinity. The police helicopter, Foxtrot, aided in the operation by tracking the vehicle.

The stolen vehicle initially fled into the county but later returned to the city. The suspect eventually abandoned the vehicle in the 2600 block of Maisel Street, where officers apprehended him.

The suspect was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility and has been charged in connection with the auto theft. This incident highlights the effectiveness of LPR technology and aerial support in aiding police efforts to combat vehicle theft and ensure public safety.
