WASHINGTON, DC — An investigation is underway following an officer-involved shooting in Northeast Washington, D.C. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. Monday in the 2100 block of Bladensburg Road, as announced by the D.C. Metro Police Department during a late-night news conference.
The sequence of events began when officers patrolling the area noticed an altercation among a group of men. Attempting to intervene, the officers encountered an armed individual who fled the scene. The pursuit led to Bladensburg Road and V Street, where an officer discharged their weapon, striking the man. He was subsequently transported to a hospital for medical treatment, although details regarding his condition or the extent of his injuries have not been disclosed.
Assistant Chief Leslie Parsons, representing the Homeland Security Bureau, highlighted the officers’ roles as members of the robbery suppression unit, tasked with removing illegal firearms and addressing criminal behavior in the community. The presence of a firearm at the scene was confirmed, yet the identity of the individuals involved, including the suspect, remains undisclosed.
