Cumberland Police Department Blotter: Here's What's Happening

CUMBERLAND, MD – The Cumberland Police Department announced several legal actions taken on Friday, April 12, 2024, including serving bench warrants, a criminal summons, and a drug-related arrest.

Annette Washington, 63, was served a bench warrant for failing to appear in court related to charges of possessing drug paraphernalia. Following her arrest, Washington was transported to Central Booking and later released on her own recognizance.

In another case, Tyler Matthew Westfall, 27, was arrested after a bench warrant was served due to his failure to comply with a court order. Originally charged with fourth-degree burglary, possessing paraphernalia, and trespassing on private property, Westfall was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond following his booking.

Additionally, a criminal summons was served to Steven Earl Nicol, 29, after charges were filed by a private citizen. Nicol, accused of second-degree assault and malicious destruction of property valued under $1,000, signed for his summons and was released pending trial.

Lastly, during a traffic stop on Interstate 68 West at the 42-mile marker, Jennifer Lynn Staples, 39, was arrested for possession of suspected Suboxone and drug paraphernalia. Staples was issued criminal citations and released pending trial.
