PATERSON, NJ—A 14-year-old student was taken into custody at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School for allegedly possessing a loaded, semiautomatic handgun inside the school premises.
The arrest occurred on Wednesday afternoon when juvenile division detectives were questioning the boy regarding his suspected involvement in an armed robbery.
The investigation was sparked by the juvenile’s alleged involvement in a recent armed robbery. When interviewing the student at the school, police found the loaded gun.
It remains unclear whether the student will face charges related to the armed robbery in addition to gun possession.
