Groundbreaking for new pocket park in perth amboy

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ—Middlesex County and the City of Perth Amboy celebrated the groundbreaking of the Fayette Street Pocket Park on Friday. This new green space, located in Perth Amboy, is expected to be a hub for passive recreation, featuring amenities such as a grand gazebo, outdoor chess tables, charging stations, picnic areas, and benches.

Middlesex County Commissioner Director Ronald G. Rios emphasized the park’s role in enhancing community life, stating, “This park represents a strategic investment aimed at increasing open spaces and meeting the recreational needs of our residents.” Assemblywoman Yvonne Lopez highlighted the health benefits of accessible parks, expressing gratitude for the collaborative efforts that made this project possible.

Mayor Helmin J. Caba of Perth Amboy also acknowledged the significant contributions from county commissioners and the impact of their investments on the community, particularly benefiting senior citizens with a new, accessible outdoor space.

Commissioner Charles E. Tomaro, who chairs the County’s Infrastructure Management Committee, praised the dedication to expanding green spaces, which he described as crucial for community well-being.
