Atlantic City player lands $50K jackpot during Maryland trip

Berlin, MD — A casino dealer who spends her days watching others win walked away with a $50,000 prize after a routine stop at a Maryland convenience store turned into a winning moment.

Mita Patel of Atlantic City, along with her husband Vimal, claimed the $50,000 prize on April 17 after purchasing a $5 Winning Streak scratch-off ticket while visiting family on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

The couple bought the ticket at Friendship Food Mart on Grays Corner Road in Berlin, where they had stopped during their trip.

According to lottery officials, the pair typically play modest amounts for entertainment, occasionally winning smaller prizes. This time, their ticket delivered their largest win to date.

The couple said they plan to deposit the winnings and have not announced further plans for the money.

The retailer that sold the ticket will receive a $500 bonus.

The Winning Streak game launched in February and still has several top prizes remaining.
