Queens Man Charged in Network Cable and Wi-Fi Theft
**Queens, NY** – Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz has announced that Kong Gao has been charged with fraudulent making of an electronic access device and criminal possession of forgery devices. This is in relation to a large-scale theft of network cable streaming and Wi-Fi services in Flushing and Whitestone.
Gao, aged 35, allegedly manufactured approximately 200 modem devices embedded with malware that mimics legitimate services like Spectrum, operated by Charter Communications. On Friday, Gao was arraigned, and he faces a potential maximum sentence of seven years if convicted of the top count. Judge Marty Lentz has ordered Gao to return to court on January 16, 2025.
In April, Charter Communications launched an investigation into widespread unauthorized use of their services, identifying about 6,000 cloned accounts. The investigation, assisted by a private investigative firm, linked Gao to advertisements offering fraudulent Wi-Fi services and modem installations. Authorities executed a search warrant at Gao’s residence on November 14.
The search at Gao’s Whitestone residence uncovered 200 modems intended for sale, along with tools and malware programs used to infiltrate Charter’s services. The scheme’s estimated impact exceeds $1 million in

Newark Officials Request Assistance in Identifying Robbery Suspects
**Newark, NJ** – The Newark Department of Public Safety is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying three suspects connected to a robbery that took place on October 27.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:55 a.m. on the 200 block of Park Avenue near 6th Street. A man waiting for a taxi was accosted by three individuals who stole his necklace, took $400 cash, and physically assaulted him before absconding northbound on North 6th Street.
Detectives have described the suspects as three Black males. Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda has called for anyone with relevant information to reach out.

Shooting Incident Investigated in Newark by Delaware Police
**Newark, DE** – Delaware State Police Detectives are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the Newark area on Sunday afternoon.
On Sunday, at approximately 1:21 p.m., troopers responded to a late report of a shooting on Pulaski Highway between LaGrange Parkway and Pleasant Valley Road. Investigations revealed a 37-year-old man was traveling westbound on Pulaski Highway between 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. when he engaged in a confrontation with an unknown black male in a separate vehicle. During the encounter, the suspect in a dark blue four-door sedan lowered the front passenger window and shot at the victim’s vehicle before escaping on Pleasant Valley Road. The victim’s vehicle was struck by gunfire, but no injuries were reported.
As of now, suspect details are not available, and no surveillance videos or images have been released. Troop 2 Criminal Investigations detectives are continuing the investigation into this incident. Teenager Killed in Fatal Largo Shooting
**LARGO, MD** – A fatal shooting on Saturday night is under investigation by the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit. The victim, identified as 16-year-old Kesean Hunt from Accokeek, was found at the scene.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 700 block of Harry S. Truman Drive at approximately 9:00 p.m. The victim was discovered outside with a gunshot wound and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Detectives are actively investigating the incident and have identified and interviewed several individuals involved. They are also consulting with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office. No charges have been filed at this time.
