Homicides cut nearly in half in Baltimore County since 2021
BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. — Violent crime is falling across Baltimore County, with homicides and non-fatal shootings hitting their lowest levels in five years while police solve a record number of cases.
Newly released data shows the county recorded 28 homicides in 2025, down from 55 in 2021 — a nearly 50% decrease.
Non-fatal shootings also dropped significantly, falling by more than 45% over the same time period.
At the same time, clearance rates surged to record highs. Police reported solving 93% of homicide cases and 95% of non-fatal shooting cases in 2025.
Officials said the combination of fewer violent incidents and higher case resolution rates reflects ongoing efforts focused on prevention, enforcement and community engagement.
Police leadership credited patrol officers and detectives for their role in both responding to incidents and successfully closing investigations.
The figures are based on finalized year-end data submitted through the FBI’s National Incident-Based Reporting System.
