Brutal Baltimore shooting leaves blood trail and unanswered questions
BALTIMORE, MD – A quiet night on East Madison Street turned deadly Thursday evening when two men were gunned down in a barrage of bullets, leaving one man dead and another fighting for his life in a hospital bed.
The gunfire erupted just before 9 p.m. in the 1400 block of East Madison Street, where Central District officers arrived to find a 57-year-old man and a 34-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Both men were rushed to a nearby hospital, but the younger victim was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The older victim remains in critical but stable condition, according to officials.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The area, located in the heart of the Central District, was quickly secured by officers as Homicide detectives took over the investigation.
Detectives canvassed the neighborhood late into the night, speaking to witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage from nearby buildings. Police have not confirmed whether the victims were specifically targeted or if the shooting was a random act of violence.
