Man fatally shot and dumped in quiet Federal Hill lot

Man found shot to death in East Cross Street parking lot as mystery deepens

BALTIMORE, MD – A man was found dead from a gunshot wound early Saturday morning in a parking lot off East Cross Street, turning a quiet stretch of Baltimore’s Southern District into the center of a homicide investigation.

It was just before 2 a.m. when emergency crews responded to reports of an unresponsive individual lying in the parking lot of the 100 block of East Cross Street. The man, whose identity remains unknown, was discovered with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The area, located near the bustling Federal Hill neighborhood, was cordoned off as investigators combed for clues. The body was found in a lot adjacent to residential and commercial buildings, raising questions about whether the shooting occurred there or if the victim was dumped postmortem.

No weapons were recovered, and detectives have yet to identify a suspect or determine a motive. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses is being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy to confirm the cause of death and assist in identifying the man. Officials say the victim had no identification on him at the time he was found.

This incident adds to a string of violent episodes in the city’s Southern District this month, continuing a pattern that authorities say they are working to curb.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call homicide detectives directly or submit anonymous tips through Metro Crime Stoppers.
