Baltimore man’s daily Lottery routine brings home $50K win

January 9, 2025

BALTIMORE, MD — A Baltimore retiree’s daily Lottery ritual turned into a $50,000 celebration after his Bonus Match 5 quick-pick ticket hit the jackpot in the January 2 drawing.

The man, who enjoys playing the Lottery while his wife teleworks from home, purchased his winning ticket at Stoko’s on Loch Raven Boulevard in Towson. His usual routine includes buying tickets for midday and evening drawings, leaving them on the table for his wife to check after dinner. This time, his ticket delivered the top Bonus Match 5 prize.

On the evening of the win, his wife checked the tickets as usual, and the husband was called in to double-check. Initially thinking they had only won a small prize, the couple quickly realized they had matched all the numbers for the $50,000 jackpot. “We got all the numbers,” the man said, recounting the jubilant moment when his wife began jumping with joy.

While the couple hasn’t yet decided how to use the prize, they plan to deposit the winnings and consider a summer vacation.

Stoko’s, the lucky retailer, also earned a $500 Lottery bonus for selling the winning ticket.
