Baltimore officer struck by gunfire in Saturday night shooting

An off-duty Baltimore police officer was wounded by gunfire Saturday night, prompting homicide detectives to lead the investigation into the shooting.

BALTIMORE, Md. — An off-duty Baltimore police officer was hospitalized after being shot Saturday night in East Baltimore, according to the Baltimore Police Department.

Officers responded at approximately 8:32 p.m. on July 11 to the 2100 block of Sinclair Lane for a reported shooting.

When officers arrived, they found the off-duty officer suffering from an apparent graze wound to the arm.

The officer was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation.

Police have not released additional information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting or any possible suspect.
