REHOBOTH BEACH, DE — An 85-year-old man discovered deceased inside a parked SUV in Rehoboth Beach last month died of natural causes, according to the Delaware State Police.
Lewis Johnson of Reston, Virginia, was found on June 24 inside a vehicle on Olive Avenue. Forensic testing by the Division of Forensic Science later confirmed his identity and determined that his death was not suspicious.
Investigators revealed that a family member had driven Johnson to Rehoboth Beach after his death. Concern for that individual’s mental and physical health led police to issue a Gold Alert on June 28. The person was safely located and taken to a medical facility the following day.
No charges are pending, and the case has been officially closed.
