Berkeley Mayor Amato advises of impending winter nor’easter

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ – Berkeley Township Mayor Carmen Amato is advising residents to prepare for an inbound nor’easter that could affect the community tonight into tomorrow night.

Amato said reports from the township OEM and National Weather Service confirm a cold and wintery mix over the next two days.

Between Monday and Tuesday, cold weather, rain, and wind will combine for heavy periods of rainfall and possibly light snowfall overnight as the temperatures drop.

Locally, Amato said forecasters anticipate less than an inch of accumulation locally. For commuters, heavy snowfall is predicted in northwestern parts of New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania.

Along the coast, residents can expect winds between 20 to 30 miles per hour with gusts up to 45 miles per hour. Some flooding along the coast is anticipated.

“These conditions may affect morning and evening commutes. Please be safe during your travels,” Amato told residents.
