Boston man sentenced to over 3 years for unlawful reentry after deportation

BOSTON, MA – A Dominican national living unlawfully in Boston has been sentenced to more than three years in federal prison for reentering the United States after being deported, prosecutors announced.

Danny Miguel Tejada Hernandez, 29, received a 37-month prison sentence from U.S. District Court Judge Brian E. Murphy, followed by two years of supervised release. He will be subject to deportation after serving his sentence. Tejada Hernandez pleaded guilty in June to one count of unlawful reentry after deportation.

Court records show Tejada Hernandez was deported in August 2021 following a 2020 conviction in Chelsea District Court for multiple controlled substance distribution offenses. At some point after his removal, he returned unlawfully to the United States.

In February 2024, he was convicted in Suffolk County Superior Court of additional drug distribution offenses and is currently serving a three-year state prison sentence on those charges. The federal sentence will run separately from his state sentence.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica Soto of the Major Crimes Unit. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of Enforcement and Removal Operations for ICE in Boston.
