BRICK, NJ — Leading members of the Brick Republican Club are facing growing pressure to resign following allegations of questionable campaign expenditures tied to the 2023 election cycle.
Calls for the resignation of Ruthanne Scaturro and Marc Vasquez, both of whom have served in executive roles within the organization, have intensified as internal concerns mount over payments made during and after the campaign. Vasquez, listed as president, was reportedly paid nearly $20,000 in consulting fees, including a $1,000 payment for his involvement on Election Day.
Scaturro serves as president of the Brick GOP Club. She is also vice-chairwoman of the Ocean County GOP.
Scaturro has not responded publicly to the ellegations.
Internal communications obtained by party members cite multiple financial decisions as cause for concern, including a $7,500 check made to the Restoring America’s Mission PAC, a group reportedly linked solely to Stephen Scaturro, Ruthanne’s husband, and several post-campaign dinners totaling approximately $100 each, described as “campaign wrap up meetings.”
“Members of the club should not be profiting off a campaign,” one message shared among Republican stakeholders stated, calling the payments and spending “absurd” and “wasteful.”
Party members seek accountability ahead of election cycle
The growing unrest within the club has led to a broader push for leadership changes as the party looks to stabilize ahead of future election cycles.
“It is in the best interest of the club, if the two of you step aside… so that there can be a smooth transition into this election,” the letter said.
Several local Republicans stressed that the integrity of the organization is at stake and urged Scaturro and Vasquez to “do the right thing” by stepping down.
