Brooklyn man charged with murder after double stabbing in Marine Park home

Brooklyn, NY – A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder following a deadly stabbing that left one person dead and another critically injured inside a Marine Park residence, police said.

Albert Torres, of 8th Avenue in Brooklyn, was taken into custody Friday afternoon in connection with the attack.

The arrest follows a Thursday night 911 call reporting two people stabbed inside 1277 East 69th Street, within the 63rd Precinct.

One victim dead, one critically injured

Officers arrived around 7:36 p.m. to find 49-year-old Juan Manuel Galicia and a 49-year-old woman suffering from multiple stab wounds. Both victims were rushed by EMS to One Brooklyn Health–Brookdale University Medical Center, where Galicia was later pronounced dead. The female victim remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Investigators say the stabbing occurred inside the victims’ residence, though police have not disclosed a motive or the relationship between Torres and the victims.

Murder and attempted murder charges filed

Police announced that Torres was formally charged Friday evening with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder. He was taken into custody without incident and is being held pending arraignment.

The NYPD said the investigation remains ongoing, and additional details about the case may be released as detectives continue to gather evidence.
