Elderly man assaulted and robbed in broad daylight at Flushing apartment entrance

Queens, NY – An 87-year-old man was violently attacked and robbed while entering his residential building in Flushing on Monday afternoon, police said, as the NYPD continues to search for the suspect who fled the scene.

The incident occurred around 3:20 p.m. near Bowne Street and Holly Avenue, in the 109th Precinct. According to police, the senior victim was entering the building when an unidentified individual approached, punched him in the face, and shoved him to the ground before grabbing the victim’s cell phone.

The suspect then ran northbound on Bowne Street. No description of the individual has been released.

The victim sustained facial injuries but is expected to recover. Police are urging anyone with information to contact NYPD Crime Stoppers by phone or social media.

As of Thursday, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
