Newark vet banned after pets die in filthy clinic

Essex County veterinarian faces consequences after neglecting animals

Newark, NJ – A veterinarian in Essex County has agreed to permanently surrender his license after allegations of gross negligence surfaced. Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin announced the resolution to the case on Wednesday.

Ehren Seth Yablon, who owned Newark Veterinary Hospital, reportedly failed to provide proper care for multiple animals resulting in their deaths. Allegations included treating pets in unsanitary conditions and the mishandling of parvovirus-positive puppies, two of which died while in his care.

The State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners received a verified complaint in April detailing instances of Yablon’s alleged misconduct. Evidence suggested he kept three parvovirus-positive puppies in a kennel without food or water, leading to the death of one puppy, while another died two days later.

In additional reports, Yablon was accused of inappropriate treatment of a bulldog that ultimately died while under his care. The owner sought a second opinion that revealed no surgery had been performed, contrary to Yablon’s claims.

Investigators inspecting Yablon’s facility found numerous health violations, including unsanitary conditions and expired medications. The final consent order prohibits Yablon from practicing veterinary medicine in New Jersey and prevents him from any professional veterinary services in the state.

He also relinquished his New Jersey CDS Registration, which allowed him to prescribe controlled substances. Deputy Attorney General Karen Webber oversaw the state’s prosecution in this case, while Division of Consumer Affairs investigators conducted the inquiry.

Pet owners suspecting unethical treatment can file complaints with the State Division of Consumer Affairs.

Rising storage building break-ins alarm Buncombe County

Rising storage building break-ins alarm Buncombe County

Buncombe County, NC Detectives with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office report a significant increase in storage building break-ins following Helene. Several suspects have been identified and charged with thefts exceeding six thousand dollars in property value.

Storage unit thefts have become challenging due to extended periods of time where buildings remain unattended. Many facilities operate digitally, limiting personnel presence and reducing security vigilance.

Customers often fail to regularly inspect their storage units, complicating theft timelines and inventory recovery efforts. Many lack detailed records of stored items, including serial numbers, which hinders investigations.

Officials advise storage unit users to maintain an inventory of their belongings, checking the units regularly for damages. They recommend documenting serial numbers and considering personal markings for items without them.

Customers should inquire about the storage business’s policies regarding personal surveillance cameras and the functionality of existing security systems. Any signs of malfunctioning gates or outdated cameras should be reported immediately.

BCSO District 1 Captain Dustan Auldredge emphasizes the importance of prioritizing security when storing personal items. The department is committed to tracking down criminals and recovering stolen goods for victims.

Blackfoot, ID

A 16-year-old boy is accused of stealing a gun and fatally shooting a woman after she declined to give him a ride. Bobby Grant Jackson Jr. faces a first-degree murder charge following the death of 30-year-old Rebecca Rivera on Thursday.

Police found Rivera dead from a gunshot wound at her mobile home shortly after 4 p.m. Family members discovered her body in the 1100 block of Broadway Street.

Jackson reportedly stole a handgun from a co-worker’s truck while working at a hospital renovation site earlier that day. He allegedly asked to use the restroom, but did not return for an extended period, prompting a co-worker to report his absence and the missing firearm to law enforcement.

Surveillance footage showed Jackson entering the truck and taking an item. Authorities learned he was living at a halfway house on probation for a prior armed robbery. An employee at the halfway house stated Jackson’s phone was tracked to a gas station located near the murder scene.

A nurse was murdered by a man she met on a dating app, sparking outrage and celebration of her life. Auriel Lowe, 34, was found dead in her apartment on Sunday morning. Christopher Whitley, 31, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Disturbing 911 calls reveal Whitley confessed to a friend shortly after the incident. He allegedly strangled Lowe, then FaceTimed a friend to show her body.

Lowe was beginning her career in nurse anesthesiology at Duke University Hospital after completing an ICU residency. Her stepmother, Teresa Lowe, expressed that the family’s heartbreak is immeasurable.
