BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ – When a passing storm moves through the area, significant coastal flooding is anticipated and today the Brick Township Police Department is offering coastal residents to move their vehicles to higher ground.
“As the holiday weekend approaches we are expecting significant rainfall and coastal flooding. In addition to the heavy rains, temperatures will drop drastically on Friday afternoon with real feel temps hitting negative digits. We are expecting that the road conditions will be dangerously icy, and we would ask you to prepare for the potential of power outages should ice form on power lines,” the department said today. “It might be a great opportunity to stay home with family instead of going out as traffic is typically very heavy this time of year. If you do go out, remember to take advantage of drive share programs.”
For those who might want to move their vehicles to higher ground, the following locations are available:
- Angela Hibbard Park
- Edmund Hibbard Park
- Windward Beach Park
- Midstreams School
- The overflow parking lot in the middle of Rt. 35 across from Brick Beach III
Please consider avoiding any unnecessary travel on the roads until the conditions improve, and if you must go out, practice caution, drive very slowly, and as always, wear your seatbelts, the department said.
